[ There's a bit of a mess in the cafeteria, and the mess is named Vash Saverem. Slumped over the table like an oversized toddler, the engineer is clutching a pail like it's the most important item in the world.

Whatever is in it smells awful. Like straight up death and dumb ideas. Trying to grow potatoes from synthesized ones was one horrible mistake, and trying to ferment them into alcohol an even worse one. How he's even managed to drink himself stupid on it without throwing it up from the taste alone is impressive.

He just - he needed to get that image out of his brain by any means possible. His twin, filling the sky with blades, slicing through stone like it was butter. His laughter. So yeah, he might have been binge-drinking from a pail of cloudy death vodka.

...the only redeeming quality in this pathetic display is the P-HYMN-1.A on the table next to him, showing acceptable levels of methanol. He'll live, but he'll be wishing he didn't when the terrible moonshine has run its course. ]

Yeah... yeah. It was bad.

[ It should have been like a fever dream, seeing the sky fill with blades - but a part of him was so terrified because it felt so real ]

[ Hilbert isn't what one would call touchy-feely. Or caring. Or empathetic. There's a pause as he looks down at Vash, stewing in his misery and a bit of his vomit, before he bluntly continues with, ]

You will remember it. What you want does not matter. Question now is, what will you do next?

There's not much I can do, is there?

[ Vash drunkenly half-mumbles with a tired sigh. He just has to live with the images, knowing that in whatever strange place these memories comes from, his brother is still so lost. ]

Not in the slightest.

[ Is it blunt? Yes. Is it cold? Yes. Is it true? Also yes. ]

What you can do is pull yourself together. You cannot change memory, you cannot change what may or may not happen. Only move forward.

[plantussy]

[ Truth jabbed straight into him is honestly the only way he's going to be able to pull his drunk ass together. Everyone's allowed their little crisis, but the ship goes on.

...and with it, whatever the hell is going on with these memories and changes. ]

[ He's so tired. Those floaty blobs really showed him how messed up he really is when the pain and anxiety went away, and now this. ]

...any chance you can leave this off any logs? [ It takes him some time to get his words together, but he's at least making sentences? ] I don't want my parents to read how bad things got if they somehow get my records one day.

[ Hilbert keeps up his hardass tone throughout the conversation. That being said, he gives Vash a little nod and a noise of approval at his question. ]

If this happens again, will have to make note. But one instance of unreliability and poor decisions does not need to be noted.

[ It's the noise of approval that makes Vash relax more than anything Hilbert says, head leaning back on the table again with a sigh. ]

[ He's so lucky he won't remember most of this. ]

[ Vash gets treated to an expression that looks like Hilbert swallowed an entire lemon at that 'love you.' Because ew. Gross. Signs of affection. Nasty. ]

[ And he's just gonna turn to leave. Otherwise, Vash might start doing things like giving him compliments? Ew? ]

[ Mo compliments, thankfully! Vash is... taking a nap. Flee while you can, Hilbert!

...you'll probably have an engineer begging for some pain pills and hydration tomorrow. ]
