Updates on captain's status:
1. Pain medication was effective treatment. However, it will not cure the captain, only manage the symptoms. I do not want to speak more on Drake's condition due to patient confidentiality, but it is safe to say that any sort of treatment more advanced than minor pain medication cannot happen. If I had some more information, then maybe I could whip up a stronger vaccine: vitals, blood sample, saliva sample, etc. But L3TH3 is unwilling to give me access.

[ 'patient confidentiality' doesn't mean shit when Hilbert's pretty sure at least two to three people here know about the captain's status already, but it's good to have that on the official record! He's a good doctor. ]

2. However, L3TH3 has allowed continued pain medication treatment (delivering nebulized pain medication through the ventilation system). The 48 hour quarantine still remains in place.
2a. At the moment, I am the only person on Medical Staff not in cryostasis.
2b. L3TH3 is allowing other people to implement pain medication treatment under the condition that if something goes wrong, I will be blamed. I can do the hard part in the Medical Bay: nebulizing the pain medication. For anyone who wishes to help, I can train you on how to deliver the medicine through the ventilation. That way, we wouldn't have a situation where our solitary doctor is spending far too much time in quarantine.

I realize that you may have questions and I am always happy to help. But I cannot stress this enough: if you receive any information about Captain Drake's physical, emotional, or mental state, please tell me. Current treatment is frontier medicine at best. Any information can and will be used to help ease Drake's suffering.

Addendum: please stop by Medical if you are experiencing any lingering emotional trauma, memory insertion, etc. from recent events. I am not psychiatrist, but I can at least cover basics.

[ Hilbert suspects that the extra-terrestrial giant mollusk thing didn't actually cause the memory insertion...but he's also not going to say 'hey, I remember a spaceship that I know I've never seen before' on a public channel. ]

[ Vash seems to be the only sunshine guy on this ship right now, surrounded by grumpy guys. It works out, though, because he likes grumpy people! Who knows why. ]

Well, sounds like it was productive! [ Half joke, half serious. ] You were brave to give it a try, and it worked. I'm happy we can start doing something for Captain Drake.

[ He finds himself a seat and sips his own 'coffee'. ]

At the very least, we can focus on giving him regular pain treatment, [ Hilbert nods. He takes a sip of his coffee again before, ]

[ And what follows is an exceedingly technical and totally handwaved discussion of how the 'paid meds through the vents' process works. ]

Yessir.

[ Vash pays attention, and seems to grasp it fairly well. He asks a few questions and needs a few clarifications, but it looks like he's overall understanding what to do. ]

It doesn't sound too complicated. The risk is there, but I feel more at ease now.

[tarakan]

Biggest risk is contamination from the Captain's air supply. It is a small risk, but a risk nonetheless.

[ Hilbert sighs before continuing, ]

It is worth it, though. Especially to ease captain's pain.

It's absolutely worth it for his sake.

[ Vash says adamantly, and then glances at Hilbert. ]

Are we making a schedule of sort? Aside from Security, the quarantine means we need to have at least someone covering another division's duties.

[tarakan]

We will. Once I figure out how many people are willing to help out, I will create schedule and send it to everyone. We can figure out job duties and how to cover shifts as things come up.

[plantussy]

That sounds great. Thank you, Dr. Hilbert.

[ He stands up, and then looks a bit uncertain for a moment. Vash slowly taps his prosthetic pointer finger against his cup. ]

...other people have had that memory thing, but nobody seems to have been changed like I have. Should I be worried?

[tarakan]

It is entirely possible that people have changed, [ Hilbert points out, ] But simply have not told me. After all, your change is subtle. Could easily be missed.

[plantussy]

I feel like asking the doctor would be the first thing to do when something's physically messed up with you!

[ Says the man who regularly hid gunshots to not worry anyone back in the fringes. ]

[tarakan]

You will be surprised how few people wish to see doctor. Back home it was 'oh, I can handle it,' even when they had horrible flesh wound or were in need of stitches.

[ You can't walk off gunshots, buddy!! ]

[plantussy]

Ah, I suppose...

[ You'd be surprised how many he's walked off and then stitched up on his own... life in the uninhabited areas are rough, and Vash has this problem where he doesn't want to be a burden to anyone.

It's chronic, and very much why he looks the way he does under that suit.

Eyes changing, though? That's not normal injuries, that's just weird. ]

This is different, though. It's not a natural thing. Neither are the memories we get.

[tarakan]

I agree, [ Hilbert nods. ] And I feel that people should bring this up, if only we can know how many these memories affect.

[ And also so he can run some data about all this. There's something up here and Hilbert wants to figure out what it is. ]

But that does not mean others feel the same way. We should go into this assuming the possibility that people have changed in ways they are not telling us.

[plantussy]

Well... maybe there should be a memo sent to everyone that it is happening to more than just them.

[ Maybe if people knew they're not alone, they'll be more likely to share. ]

[ There's a pause, a frown, and a deeply annoyed sigh before, ]

And that is something it would be best if Medical does, yes?

[ urrrrrgh, why does he have to keep talking to people??? ]
