Log: Entering the 'find out' phase

LOCATION: JAIL (the ship's brig, down at the very front of the ship) -- network text options also available!
WARNINGS: Talk of attempted murder, both past and potentially future


Given the ongoing operational crisis, there are three courses of action that may be considered; indefinite confinement (resource-intensive), re-initiation of cryo sleep (inefficient due to crew size), or psychological evaluation with restricted access and monitoring (most efficient course).

Final determination will be made by the Security Division.

From his cell, Wolfwood reads and rereads L3TH3's message over and over again. It's better than he'd been expecting, but he'd resigned himself to being put back into cold storage and only seeing daylight again at his court-martial. Now it's sounding like he's going to be allowed to remain part of the crew -- so long as those assholes in Security agree -- but with monitoring, and psychological evaluation.

Even clenching his hands into fists doesn't stop the shaking. He can't bring himself to regret what he did -- especially not after learning the miserable state the captain's in -- but if he'd known that the punishment for his actions would be a short leash at a doctor's whim? He might have made different choices.

Signing up for this mission might have been a mistake.

[ annoyance is enough. anything is better than indifference. that would have been a warning sign, and she takes that as proof of an attempt to act composed. cute. but she is the psychologist now, not makima, the mother, or makima, the elheen woman who loves humans. he will only see the pleasant, too professional smile from her rather than the amusement tied behind her teeth. ]

You're very unequivocal. [ she means that as a compliment. ] Do you think your actions are entirely justified, then?

[ He has no idea what that word means, and he's not getting any hints about how well this interview is going from that professional mask she's got on. He's tempted to tell her what he thinks she wants to hear -- that he sees the error of his ways, that he was wrong, that he regrets his actions -- but he's never been a good liar. ]

I should've found another way to do it.

[ If he's going to get condemned for his actions then dammit, he wants the entirely of his actions on the record, both good and bad, the things he'd do again and the things he regrets. ]

Turnin' off the air was...

[ He shakes his head, unable to help glancing over at the side of his cell and the narrow ventilation grating there. Suffocation seems like a terrible way to die, and he has to admit, part of him is grateful that the captain was saved that fate. ]

It would've been better if it had been faster. Painless, you know?

[ He holds up his wrist, with its ever-present status bracelet. ]

Clean.

[ Like the sanitizing that wiped out the whole previous crew. ]

[ there was a moment there where makima drifts. listens, of course, certainly attentive to detail, but her eyes cast down as she thinks. assesses. he is regretful in certain aspects, but not of the act itself. just the way it was done. he's fairly limited to options, and on top of that . . . the brief exchange she will have with the captain will solidify the need to relieve him of his duties. they just had to find a loophole in the system. for their sake as well as captain drake's.

she feels more like a viper than an angel lately, having these thoughts intrude during a session. she is a mother, yes. she too wants to survive. she wants to keep her legacy safe and would go to great lengths. but she has to get back on track— this is nicholas' time. ]

I trust you were aware of the consequences if you failed, too. [ laws and rules were made to uphold conduct. he was out of line, whether they liked it or not. those were the rules, moral inclinations be damned. ] How did you feel, then? When you failed?

[ Up until now it's seemed like she's just trying to assess whether he's nuts, and Wolfwood's been happy to play along. He's not nuts, and he's not a threat to the rest of the ship, and all he's got to do is convince her of that. But as soon as she asks about his feelings, his mood visibly shifts, from a kind of stoic acceptance to that somewhat aggressive focused eye contact he had when she first entered the cell block. ]

How did I feel?

[ His feelings are his business, thanks. ]

Not a whole lot, on account of bein' unconscious 'cause some asshole shot me.
